Hi there! My name is Hristina (with an “H” not a “CH”) 😊 and I welcome you to my happy place. Aside from being with my loved ones I love, my happy place is this very blog where I get to share with all of you the deliciousness that I make. All throughout my life, I have been surrounded by people that prepare and enjoy real food that has had a direct influence on my passion and what I enjoy to do.

I was born and raised in a small country of Macedonia located in Southern Europe. It was that very special place where my passion for cooking and baking sprouted. All of my meals that I ate were home made using ingredients from either grandparents’ farm or other hardworking local farmers. Yes! Many times, even bread was homemade! Who am I kidding? My mom even made homemade Mayonnaise, homemade ice cream, homemade chocolate hazelnut spread, and the list just goes on and on. Every birthday, she made marvelous birthday cakes for my sister and I and they were 100% from scratch. So when you ask me why I love preparing meals on my own and putting my own touch in everything that I make, it’s simply because that’s all that I’ve watched growing up. My father on the other hand, worked at a well known bread bakery in Macedonia when we lived there so don’t be surprised when he makes the perfect bread and his pizza dough…. AH-MAZING! (Just don’t tell him I told you this).

In 2001, my parents decided to move our family to the land of opportunity, more specifically in Upstate New York. Both of my parents worked very long hours and the temptation for fast food, boxed meals, and everlasting $0.99 bread was real. However, if you know my mother, then you know that this was never a valid excuse to eat fast food. It just meant that she involved my sister and I in the meal making process.

Thankfully, I didn’t see this as a chore. Spending time cooking and baking was a time that I have always enjoyed and coming from a family of outstanding cooks and bakers I have had so much inspiration.

This is yet another reason why I have decided to create a place where I can share what I make in my kitchen. My passion for creativity and food have found their place in Ina Eats In and I am very thankful to be doing what I love!

(Ina {ee-nah} because that is was my grandmother called me growing up…)

If you were to Google “how to have a successful food blog,” every link that you click on would tell you that you need a very specific “niche” in the food industry in order to be successful.  I’m sure that would be very easy and it would make my “blog grow” but it would take away from my passion. You see, I enjoy veggies where as my husband is a “meat and potatoes” kind of guy so I experiment with lots of different foods in our kitchen and that is what I want to share with you. But don’t you worry, we don’t have completely opposite taste because we both have… well…. A sweet tooth! So YES- dessert will also be a part of what I share with you. There is, however, one thing that I will always stay true to and that’s real ingredients.

There is no better taste than homemade and I hope that you find your favorite recipe here that becomes a family favorite!
