Smart Brevity is Transforming Food Blogging
Food bloggers no longer need to elongate their recipe post by sharing their never ending back story to their recipe. No one is reading it. In fact, most click “Jump to Recipe” within the first 5 seconds of the page loading. Smart Brevity is transforming food blogging!
Why It Matters:
Food bloggers need to acknowledge that readers want the recipe they clicked on. Even someone that may want more in depth information, would benefit from a scannable, easy to read blog post without all the mushy words.
- Smart Brevity is a new way of writing that conveys information concisely and effectively using language that is clear and makes an impact. In other words, lets get to the point. In the food blogging world, Smart Brevity means delivering the reader informative content that is engaging and ensures that the reader receives valuable information for what they are looking for without unnecessary caveats. It saves the reader time and makes a bigger impact on the content being delivered.
Go Deeper:
Smart Brevity is transformation food blogging because it simply focuses on key information the readers is looking for. How many times have you clicked on a recipe just to scroll through words upon words of information you don’t care for. Food Bloggers used that extra “mush” to make their post “unique” and in hopes of boosting their SEO.
The focus is on valuable information.
- Imagine Googling “Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe” and you are presented with words upon words before you get to the recipe. The whole blog post should be straight to the point, easy to read information on exactly that- chewy chocolate chip cookies. You can add all of the details that relate but leave out the extra verbiage. It is invaluable to the reader.
- You may have a great story behind that recipe that you are passionate about sharing. Great! Make that a separate post with the focus being your unique story. Those that want to read that, will.
- Quality over quantity is the new way of writing. Quality posts are valuable posts.
Improve the readability of your blog posts.
- Hold off on unnecessary words. Break apart long paragraphs. Add headings and subheadings. Add bullets and highlights and/or bold key words. All of these tips make the blog post easier to read and scannable. This will save your reader lots of time.
- Your audience should come first. Respect their time and deliver whaat you promised in your title. We live in a fast-paced world where everyone is presented with so much information in front of them at any given time.
Use visuals to get a message across.
- People love videos, infographics, and high-quality images. They can be used in food blogging in many ways. Have pictures of step by step instructions. For example, food bloggers may be able to show consistency of a batter through a clear image or short video. The audience looks for that.
SEO Optimization favors focused and short content.
- That is simply because that is what the reader looks for. Food bloggers can be strategic on relevant keywords, headings, meta descriptions, etc. Smart Brevity and SEO go hand in hand as they both favor clear, easy to read, scannable content that delivers just what the reader searched for.
